Osteogenic effect of low?intensity pulsed ultrasound and whole?body vibration on peri?implant bone. An experimental in vivo study

Objectives The aims of this study were (i) to compare the osteogenic impact low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) and low-magnitude high-frequency (LMHF) loading achieved with whole-body vibration (WBV) on peri-implant bone healing implant osseointegration in rat tibiae, (ii) examine their combined effect these processes. Material methods Titanium implants inserted bilateral tibiae 28 Wistar rats. Rats randomly divided into four groups: LIPUS + WBV, LIPUS, control. was applied placement site for 20 min/day 5 days/week (1.5 MHz 30 mW/cm2). WBV 15 (50 Hz 0.5 g). In group, both stimuli under same stimulation conditions as groups. After 4 weeks treatment, assessed using removal torque (RT) tests, micro-CT analyses relative gray (RG) value, histomorphometrical bone-to-implant contact (BIC) formation (BV/TV). Results group had significantly greater BIC than control Although there no significant intergroup differences RT, RG BV/TV, variables tended be other Conclusions combination LMHF may promote activity around implant. However, further is necessary better understand effects relationship between two stimuli.
